I have just received information regards my family tree which shows my gt gt gt grandfather, Charles Cowdock a grocer, was bankrupted in 1816 and became Inn Keeper at The Kings Head Inn, in Nantwich(1 Mill street).
On his death in 1849 in Tarporley, his 2nd wife Ellen assumes innkeeper role although she later remarries in 1853 at the age of 60 to Hugh Sadler
I found details of 1 Mill street as being an optitions I think but I can’t find any reference to this Inn at all and wonder if you have any information at all.
with Charles House being the middle of the three on the right, we’re fascinated with the buildings and haven’t really seen any old photos of them, have you?
Hi Bill
I have inherited a large stone ware jar / flagon which must be a least a couple of gallons.
It was made for and stamped Pickering and sons, wine merchants, Nantwich.
Do you know anything about Pickerings at all?

Thanks for your comment. I’ll email you some information about the King’s Head Inn.
Hi Bill,
We’ve been working in Charles House/Princes Court in Nantwich for 8 years and we were wondering if you had any pictures of the area?
All we can find is this one: –

Thanks!
Russ.
Your picture is in Andrew Lamberton’s Lost Houses in Nantwich.
I don’t have any old photos of the hospital/workhouse. I presume you’ve seen Peter Higginbotham’s excellent site:

It’s interesting to see when the building arrived looking at The Cheshire Archives site:
